On Friday, August 9, 2018 at the Portuguese House, Hawaii Plantation Village, members and the community gathered for a solemn ceremony.
Catholic Bishop Larry Silva, who is also of Portuguese descent, blessed the Portuguese house.
This was a particularly special moment for PCHC President Larry Cravalho, as both the past and the present united. It was a rare moment where in the present we honored the past while looking toward the future.
A reception followed the blessing in the Plantation social hall, where PCHC members and the community had the opportunity to fellowship with each other.
News of the blessing was also highlighted in the Honolulu StarAdvertiser. Lee Cataluna
wrote a wonderful article describing the event.
